Erect,terrestrial,perennial,rhizotomus herb, 60-90 cm 40-60 cm high.
Leaves simple,ellipticoblong, 18-25 cm 12-20 cm long by 10-15 cm 4-7.5 cm wide,tapering at both ends.
Inflorescence terminal,erect,composed of many fleshy spirally arranged bracts;bracts pinkish-green on lower half,pink and larger on the upper part;bracts green on lower half and fertile,white at the upper and sterile; scape 15-17 cm long.
Flowers white and violet enclose by bracts;calyx funnel-shaped,8-12 mm long; corolla 3,tube 15-18 mm long,lobes oblong,glabrous; labellum violet with yellow patch below the middle,ca.2.8 cm long,1.5 cm wide;stamen 1;anther 7-8 mm long with spurred at the base;ovary glabrous.
pale violet-white,enclosed in the bract,ca. 1 cm across; calyx 3, tubular; corolla 3, funnel-shped; labellum obovate, ca. 1.5 cm long by 1 cm wide, margin undulate; lateral staminodes petaloid; stamen 1, with short filament.
Fruit ovoid,glabrous.ovoid,small,glabrous.
Throughout Indochina. In Thailand, found in the northeastern region in moist deciduous dipterocarp forests.in grasslands and deciduous dipterocarp forests.
Flowering from July to August.
Commonly Cultivated as ornamental and commercial plants.
